|
| 1) | Keep
the drinks and food simple e.g. beer, white wine and orange juice. |
| 2) | Use a Strolling Magician as an Ice-Breaker early in the evening. This will encourage people to relax and mingle as they arrive. It will also put them in a fun mood for the rest of the evening. |
| 3) | Get the speeches over with early. Set a time limit for each Speaker, people get bored if someone drones on for too long. |
| 4) | Have someone act as a host or hostess to introduce people to each other throughout the night. Pay special attention to singles and visitors who may not know anyone. |
| 5) | Give people a name tag as they arrive. There is nothing more embarrasing then forgetting someone's name after you have been talking to them for half an hour. |
| 6) | Have a Business Card Draw. This allows you to collect Business Cards and send a Thank You card to everyone after the Party. |
| 7) | If it is a Company Cocktail Party, ensure the Staff keep moving amongst the clients and guests. It doesn't look good to see Company Staff forming their own little group. They can do that at the pub later. |
| 8) | Tell your Staff to go easy on the alcohol. Tipsy Staff members do not convey a good Corporate Image. |

| 2) | If you are serving a meal, make it a buffet. People can then choose what they wish to eat. It is also less expensive than a served dinner. |
| 3) | If the Entertainer is doing a stand-up show, the best time is after dessert while people are having coffee (Before the Disco starts) |
| 4) | Ask the Entertainer for his okay before you video-tape his performance. |
| 5) | Have plenty of non-alcoholic drinks as well as beer and wine. Some people will be driving. |
| 6) | Keep any speeches short and sweet. |
| 7) | Bear in mind, some people are conservative in their outlook. Remember this if you are thinking of hiring a belly dancer or a male stripper. |
| 8) | If
you are having a theme. Keep It Simple! Hiring costumes can be expensive and a hassle. |
|
|
|
| 1) | 2.5
- 3 hours is usually long enough for the party. Remember, you are responsible for them in your home. |
| 2) | Book the entertainment to begin 30 minutes after the party starts. This allows time for latecomers to arrive. |
| 3) | By
having the entertainment at this time, you can prepare the food in peace
and quiet while the Entertainer performs his show. After the performance, the Entertainer can lead them over to the table and organise the singing of Happy Birthday and the cutting of the cake. |
| 4) | Ask the Entertainer for his okay before you video-tape his performance. |
| 5) | Keep in mind, some parents do not approve of face-painting. |
| 6) | Have fruit juice along with soft drinks to choose from. |
| 7) | Don't make the timetable to rigid. Allow some time for free play. |
| 8) | Prepare a pass-the-parcel beforehand in case the children get restless later in the party. |
| 9) | If
you are having a theme. Keep It Simple! Parents don't like to be up all night making costumes. |
| 10) | RELAX, the children are not going to give you a pass or fail! |
